He's done miracles at Vandy... but there is no way he can recruit with the best in the SEC.
On the other hand... Penn State also seems to have a lower recruiting ceiling than the top teams in the Big 10.
Should he just stay at his alma mater and enjoy keeping them in the middle of the SEC pack... or roll the dice at breaking into the big time... and risk flaming out like Franklin?

Wouldn’t shock me they throw $12-15 mm/yr for N Saban or U Meyer.
Meyer would be perfect fit for obvious reasons.
Very much doubt Saban is available. He retired because his business model was no longer viable and he didn't want to change to a more portal centric world. Nothing has changed there, so why go to a new school and start over when the same experience awaits. Also, he's 9000 years old, time to enjoy his retirement and still make major money.
Urban might jump at the chance for a new challenge and chance to win a natty at another school, but ego aside, I think he's content to have lower stress as a talking head.
No doubt someone will bring up Gruden because they always do. He's mostly a pro coach, but his coaching style could translate to college, but....a fair amount of baggage for a school that's had it's fair share of scandal.
Cignetti is already pretty old, but seems to have a sizable ego, so he might be willing, but how long does he have left? Also, why be forever number 2 to Paterno when you are on the verge of making Indiana a household name.
Rhule I like, so I hope he doesn't go there. But Penn State might view him as Franklin 2.0. Good enough to get you into the conversation, but not good enough to get you over the hump.
The advantage to doing it so early is that they have a head start on the schools that haven't fired their coach yet. The downside is most of the coaches you want are still coaching for their current schools and won't want to leave until after their season because they are doing well.
Maybe they should contact Kelly.

Kiffin, Elko and Matt Ruhle also possible. They have huge Alumni, Goldman-Sachs biggies among them! Huge improvements underway to stadium, training facilities second to none....

Rhule, it may come down to how happy their families are in their current homes. The Mommy vote is key.
Just FWIW. But my relatives see their fam out occasionally in SB, and they look like life is good!
