not going to catch them." How about Reggie Brooks splitting the defenders then throwing up on the sidelines in 1992? Stan Smagala returns interception for TD at key point and Keith Jackson can't even go there during the play. Tony Rice option keeper awesome. God, I am psyched!!!

Nah, Scott Kowalkowski utterly destroying Todd Marinovich

1989 USC at Notre Dame:

Todd Marinovich engaged in some trash talking, and even butted Scott Kowalkowski with his helmet, while pointing at him in a taunting manner, after he had made a nice throw.

Kowalkowski got his revenge by smashing Marinovich with a brutally hard hit, that it actually injured Marinovich's throwing arm's shoulder, which made him throw a wounded duck on the last play.

I rarely used curse words, even back in those days as a ND student, but when I saw that hit, I yelled "eat shit, Marinovich!"

On the last play, Marinovich was lucky that he threw that ball away. Kowalkowski was literally two steps away from smashing him again on the final throw, and Ricky Ervins (?) saved his butt by holding Kowalkowski on that pass protection.

Scott Kowalkowski was one of the most highly underrated players of all time in ND history. He wasn't the biggest linebacker, and he wasn't the most fleet footed (ran a 4.8 on a good day), but he was one of the smartest guys on the team, and could hit like a freight train.

Having him and Mike Stonebreaker on the field at the same time saved our butts in 1990 on more than one occasion, especially since Andre Jones and Demetrius Dubose would overpursue their targets regularly.

Andre Jones also dropped an easy pick six that cost us the game against PSU in 1990.

Eric Pennick's 85-yard TD run in 1973! It was the first time I had seen a ND running back NOT get caught from behind by an SC player since Joe Heap's 1953 94-yard kickoff return for a TD. ND won both games....

First meeting was in 1926. Favorite play ever or in one's lifetime?
