Coach Ash sighting at presser today

Idk if it’s a good sign that coach Freeman pushed Ash to the podium today proving they’re trying to reach the team’s full potential by having everyone face the fire.

Or if it’s a bad sign that Freeman wanted to get it over with BEFORE the USC game fearing what the Trojans offense might do to Ash’s defensive play calling.

Regardless, it was long overdue.

Still don't believe Ash is calling the D. It's been a complete 180 in style from what he was

doing in the first 2 games. Line movement, stunts, games, blitzes, etc....

He's either completely reinvented who he is (in 1 week) and what he wants out of the D or someone else has been making the calls.

The calls the last 4 games are similar to what Golden was doing the previous 2 years, so I'm going with someone else is making the calls.

Stroman confrmed one call by Ash at presser yesterday. Unfortunately Ash confirmed a lot too...

Stroman said when he arrived back to the sideline after his sack on a delayed blitz, Ash told hm he was worried that he didn't remember the play call to blitz, but was happy he did. I guess Stroman's patience during the play had an already high-strung Ash's nerves bad. lol

Ash definitely seemed to have his guard up at yesterday's presser too. He wasn't trying to be apologetic. He damn sure wasn't open to the idea of any sort of personal evolution as a college coach regarding his preparation or in-game play calling since arriving back at the college level.

His response to the idea of that, "No, I've been doing this a while". It was nails on the chalkboard. That was different than Al Golden's approach from NFL to college.

Ash's response was disturbing to hear.

If you're single, maybe your tastes have changed with food, music, movies, etc. from where it was say 10 years ago. But, if everything is still the same for you then that's cool too because it's just you.

With that said, evolving when you're with someone (married/dating/coaching a team) also happens. However, evolving together with that person together as a TEAM is vital because two things can happen whether you do or you don't:

1. One person evolves from when you first met (arrived in locker rooms), but the other doesn't (refuses to compromise) then the (relationship) team typically falls apart.

2. Both people evolve together (team glory) and you both last until your dying day together (players would run through a wall for you).

If coach Freeman heard what I heard yesterday then Ash's time at ND will be short lived as it seems to have been just about every where else.

SC is hardly a buzz saw

Why does everyone think that offense is so great?

Lemon is good, but ND can counter with Moore.

ND has the superior QB and backs. SC is starting a fucking walk on RB.

They beat an average Michigan and everyone broke out the roses.

Also, they're led by a giant pussy.

Oh, don't overlook USC. Our front 7 on D must stuff their run game and not let their QB outside the pocket. This will not be an easy game for ND. D must limit yardage and keep USC out of the red zone. Our O, while playing well, will be out of sync with a new center. Center is the hub and beside starting every play, also calls line blocking assignments. Big thing will be timing between him and Carr and that only comes with repeated snaps and the weather forecast in not looking good on Saturday night. USC game always makes me nervous.

I get where you're coming from but the USC offense is 2nd in the nation in total yards per game

They are 2nd in the nation in passing yards per game and 16th in the nation in rushing yards per game (ahead of ND). They are 3rd in the nation in total points per game at 45.5 (also ahead of ND). Maiava leads the nation in quarterback ratings.

Sure, the schedule has something to do with it but they put up 31 vs a good Michigan defense etc.

Sure, they also lost their 1st and 2nd string running backs but their 3rd string walkon ran for tons last week.

If they're not a buzzsaw, they're the closest thing to it and have the best offense ND has or will play this year.

It's their O-line. Can our D-line win against them?

Their QB is great but I am still optimistic that ND beats them.

Maiava makes them a very dangerous offense. Keep him under wraps and ND wins handily.

Let him run around, extend plays and create havoc (like he did last year against ND) and it will be a long day.

Buzzsaw? maybe not. Dangerous? Absolutely.

If you're a coordinator at ND, you have to face the music

You have to take your gut checks, unless you're basically a coordinator in name only.

Lest we forget that Ash has a HC who was a DC that should have been supervising the whole shebang.

Fall camp, film sessions, practice, game planning. MF had all this time plus Miami to judge what Coach Ash was doing. Then Miami turned into A&M. We might never know exactly what caused the turn around. Maybe it was MF and Ash. Maybe it was Ash, MF, and Mickens. Whatever it was, just keep it going. When TV cameras are on Coach Ash, he has the headset, play sheets in hand, and walking the sidelines like he's fully involved. Probably with MFs headset monitoring all defensive chatter. That's ok. Whatever it takes.
