He’s made himself a millionaire without setting himself apart from mediocrity. He learned well from Kelly.
I agree that he was basically pushed too far up, too quickly, and Brian Kelly was the enabler.
He got away with it because Brian Kelly was there to run things for him, and once he was given full autonomy, there were way too many silly mistakes being made, especially in 2022.
Granted, in 2022, he was working with a bad QB situation, but it was partially his own fault for nixing Coach Freeman's suggestion that we bring in a transfer portal guy for that year.
In 2023, he had plenty of offensive talent to work with, but kept trying to stick square pegs into round holes in Tuscaloosa. He was being foolish, trying to turn Jalen Milroe and Tyler Buchner into dink 'n dunk QB's, and Ty Simpson (more of a pure pocket passer) into a spread option runner.
Once Nick Saban put his foot down, and told him to start using Jalen Milroe's arm strength to establish a downfield passing game, the offense finally hit a nice stride.
With regards to his pro career as an OC...
...it's the Browns after all. They are the graveyard for many a promising NFL player or coach.
Their roster isn't exactly stacked with good players, and every time they stumble upon a good roster, they end up trading them away in a fire sale.
I'm actually surprised they didn't elevate Bill Musgrave to the OC position, given that he has had decades of experience coaching at all levels, both as a position coach and an OC. Musgrave is a proven commodity.
You relishing someone else's "lack of success" is pettiness at its highest.

To this point in his career he hasn’t distinguished himself

If you can’t refute what I said, then STFU.

Rees is mediocre. He left ND because he thought he was excellent. He is mediocre. Refute that.
I’m all grown up and I don’t see a problem with telling the truth.
You and the counselor seem way too sensitive when it comes to Rees.
I see him for what he is. You have yet to refute that.

...he can prove himself as a reliable, highly productive OC elsewhere, even if it's at a lesser school.
He needs to learn to be his own man, and stop trying to be Brian Kelly without Brian Kelly's several decades of experience.
