It was stupid. Could have resulted in a penalty.

A silly attempt at attention getting that could have been misinterpreted by flag happy refs.

Best to retire that “dance”

While yes it could have been flagged for unsportsmanlike, forcing another kneeldown, what ref is going to bother with that?

Yes, it is deserving of the "wise man moment" public shaming with the team. Yet, except as a reminder that do that on a 4th down kneel-down and you are giving the opponent a play, that will and should be the end of it.

Now, if this was an in-conference game, then it could lead to the conference forcing the team to suspend the player for all or part of the next game; fortunately that is one of the advantages to being an independent.

Where's the original video? Jessica Smetana seemed impressed on Golic Jr's podcast.

Celebrations in the end zone are fleeting moments, and not many will remember even the more flamboyant ones.

What Love did was pretty mild compared to what I've seen over the years.

Even the folks from the home team will have a hard time remembering them.

About 10 years ago, I was having a discussion about the ND - Miami rivalry from the Johnson / Erickson era with a Miami alum (and football fanatic). It was actually a pleasant conversation, and we both agreed that the 1987 Miami team would easily win that same competition 9 times out of 10, but that 1988, 1989, and 1990 could have gone either way.

During our discussion, he was reluctantly grumbling about how too many Miami players from that time were undisciplined thugs, and that some of the end zone celebrations would come back to blow up on them.

I remembered seeing either Lamar Thomas or Horace Copeland (both were very fine wide receivers for those powerhouse Miami teams) apparently scoring on a TD catch in another game, and did a back flip in the end zone.

When the play was called back because of a holding penalty on the offense, the opposing team's defensive back laughed, pointed his finger at the the Miami guy, and did his own back flip.

When I mentioned that celebration, his eyes opened wider with remembrance, and said that he had honestly forgotten about that incident. He then remembered the game, since he was there.

I thought it was hilarious, but I may be in the minority. FUSC...we say it but he showed it.
