I don’t know if it was discussed, but anyone think that it is out of place

For the governor of Louisiana to opine on the performance of the LSU football team? Ultimately it was LSU’s decision, but would Kelly have grounds to extract more money due to a government official, with sway over funding for a state school, posting about the play of a football team from an official social media account? Just seems dumb and Kelly may walk out with even more if his agent is paying attention. LSU may have dug themselves into a bigger mess.

Didn’t Kelly work for the government? That’s who pays LSU’s billls, right?

Can’t the head of the state government speak about state employees? Weird that that might be illegal.

I don't know, but I believe LSU is currently w/out a president, so Gov

I heard gov is the de facto decision maker & this is hugely political in La which is why. Unseemly.

I feel like that won’t hurt re-election chances

Yes… but Louisiana is passionate about football first, and Jesus second

The governor gets involved because his constituents care about LSU more than, say, education or health care or poverty.

Much more.

Crazy. One of the poorest states in the US is going to him all that money to do nothing

Maybe a little unseemly...but the Governor can't comment on the job performance of State employees..

...especially the highest paid one?

Not sure how this would garner Kelly more money exactly.

He could argue that the governor improperly influenced his removal

LSU doesn’t have a permanent president right now so the governor is the defacto head. I just can’t recall a governor or let alone a school president publicly criticizing a coach like that. I mean it would be hard to prove that Kelly experienced wrongful termination but weirder things have happened I guess.

From what I heard today, LSU football & politics went hand in hand for a hundred years.

Apparently, Huey Long was a big influencer in getting Tiger Stadium built.
