I suppose it is possible that coaches for state universities in Texas (and high schools there?) now have a waiver of immunity clause (if they have sufficient leverage)...although I suppose enforcement of that clause could be an issue. When the State of Texas did that (on behalf of Texas Tech), I was wondering who would want to coach for a Texas state team after that. Texas teams have still found good coaches, so I assume LSU will probably still be able to do so.

Tax payers in Louisiana ARE obligated to pay Kelly's 53m buyout, unless private donars..
step up to pay it (which will probably occur).
But make no mistake, the State is on the hook to pay it from Louisiana tax dollars if donars don't cover it.
