He was discussing his departure from LSU and remarked that he was told they would honor the $17.1M owed to him. His response…’What time do you want me to leave and what door do you want me to take?’

No Kelly fan, but double edged sword if they try to stiff him. Will a coach want to take that risk?

Texas stiffed Leach (asserted state immunity from suit).

I suppose it is possible that coaches for state universities in Texas (and high schools there?) now have a waiver of immunity clause (if they have sufficient leverage)...although I suppose enforcement of that clause could be an issue. When the State of Texas did that (on behalf of Texas Tech), I was wondering who would want to coach for a Texas state team after that. Texas teams have still found good coaches, so I assume LSU will probably still be able to do so.

Well in that case, I hope LSU pays him $87.50 and a pack of Bubbalicious

...added to the state payrolls as the highest paid employees right behind the coaches.

This is being brought to the forefront courtesy of Cajun Kelly. The taxpayers already livid about the possibility of having to eat the tab for some of his generational wealth...

Tax payers in Louisiana ARE obligated to pay Kelly's 53m buyout, unless private donars..

step up to pay it (which will probably occur).

But make no mistake, the State is on the hook to pay it from Louisiana tax dollars if donars don't cover it.

I thought he was wrong on that statement. Hasn’t it been in the news the last few days?

...in the future.

That's the reason the Governor THINKS he can make these incentive contracts...to help "guarantee" winning.

Nice thought. Has politician written all over it...
