That should never happen.
The 2 open slots are probably going to be home games with 2 neutral site games already scheduled.
in that scenario there would be only 5 games in ND Stadium, with one technically home game at a neutral site, and 6 away games. (It is still perplexing that a game in Wisconsin, playing Wisconsin could be considered a home game)
The USC game seems less likely the more this stalemate drags on. That spot could then be a home game. It would probably be a lower level team since it will be added so late. It could even be, heaven forbid, a 1AA (FCS) team. But, that would make a slate of 6 games at ND, 5 away games, and a shamrock neutral site game.
Hope I'm wrong...but I don't want ND to bow to any stupid scheduling demands by USC either.

...are right about the schedule. I would expect the two games not known as of yet to be at Notre Dame.
That has generally been the model. 6 home + Shamrock (7). 5 away (including Navy at Foxborough next year).
