True N.I.L. like this has always been a reasonable compromise to me. No different than Olympic athletes. Hate it for the guys who were college stars that were never going to be N.F.L. players who could have cashed in.

We went out there one year and a Bob Davie team got our asses kicked, but the bars that we went to in the fans that we met and in the stadium, they couldn’t have been nicer and they absolutely identified us as college football royalty. It was really something to behold. It forever changed my view of Nebraska and Nebraska football.
