Good article. I think the days of huge guaranteed contracts are over.

You added a "D" to the end of the URL.

With regards to the article, the schools that are giving such rich buyout payments can afford to do so. They have wealthy donors, and those donors will definitely have quite a bit of say so when it comes to how the Board of Trustees make decisions, even if it's indirect influence.

For these guys, it's going to be one of two things. Either find a coach who you know is all but guaranteed to be consistently excellent, or take a gamble on a less proven commodity and don't give him the option for a huge buyout.

Schools that don't have the donors simply aren't going to be able to offer such contracts to what they perceive to be top tier coaches, so they're most likely not going to have such problems.

In like 2000 people said this can't continue..ohtani is getting 700 mil..it's like this .we all like watching college football ... advertising dollars for the sport go thru the roof .merch etc.. because of this coaches salaries go to the moon ..players take notice .b4 you know it players are getting paid a ton.the agent s who are borderline criminals circle the bloody waters..unless you don't have any streaming subscriptions and refuse to buy consumer goods you are paying for it .when people say that the players don't owe anyone when they opt-out they r wrong.. welcome to the machine
