Former ND TE Tommy Tremble - story?

I was looking up the stats and status of Mitchell Evans and came across Tommy Tremble.
Both playing for Carolina, Tremble drafted earlier round than Evans and now higher on the depth chart.
Funny, i don't don't remember him at ND.
Last season at ND 2020, only 19 catches, 0 TDs. Career total at ND - 34 receptions.

You guys remember him at ND? Why was he drafted so high?

Tommy Tremble was one of the most unselfish guys you could ever find on the team.

Even though Mike Mayer was TE1, and a very good blocker, Tremble was better than Mayer was at run blocking.

Having him there as a blocker was like having another full fledged lineman helping you out, but with very good speed. There were many times he'd intercept an attacking linebacker or even safety, since his own speed and mobility is that good.

If anything, he played a lot of H-back.

The pro teams took note of this, since most pro-style offenses make good use out of TE's who operate as H-backs.

I doubt Tommy Tremble regrets his decisions, since he recently signed a 2 year contract worth $16 million with the Panthers.

He declared early. Looked like he was about to become a star.

He didn't get as many receiving opportunities as he wanted, as Mayer was emerging, so he opted to make the jump before his senior season. But he was a great athlete and a ridiculous blocker, either lined up at Tight End or Fullback or downfield.

an exceptional athlete, and I would argue that he was underutilized at Notre Dame

He was playing behind AA Michael Mayer and left after only playing 2 seasons. He was a projected late 4th- early 5th rounder but because of his measurables he went much higher.
