He's Danica Patrick.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

it is hurting him. Sarkisian has always seemed to underachieve also.

Sark has never impressed me as a head coach. He's technically competent, BUT seems to lack killer

instinct. Frankly, his team got outplayed and he got outcoached last night. That seems to happen a lot in bigger games. Wonder how long until Mathew McGhonegeeney starts calling for his head.

Reminds me of Kelly in how he manages games. Doesn't seem like the all out jerk, but I also think he takes his foot off the gas when his team should keep pouring it on.

He does not read the field. He throws into double coverage

He does not check off
Throws some horrible balls none of his receivers have a chance to catch

Thread Level: 3

And his receivers know that. Just watch their body language in the huddle and on the sidelines

I don't get the sense that he's viewed as the balls out leader of that offense. I feel for the kid in some ways in that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and insane expectations.

Yes, that is muted to some extent by the shit ton of money TX pays him, but not living up to expectations sucks.

it seems about 20% of his passes have zero chance of success, like he is throwing darts at aCarnival

20% of 4 downs = .8 = 3.2 downs
when he "chucks" a pass like a prayer, TX is down to 3.2 downs to get a 1st...
he is also susseptible to throwing a pick.
Watch the film
The great ones: throw it out of bounds, OR only where THEIR guy may catch it, OR check down to what the D gives them, etc.
NOT MANNING...
Grateful he is not on our sideline. TX if fucked with him.
He seems like 1 hell of a nice young man from 1 hell of a family...
however, FILM DON'T LIE....

His mechanics have gotten sloppy

Looking at his high school film, he looked like the prototypical quarterback with clean mechanics.

Throughout his time at Texas, his mechanics look a lot more disjointed.

His arm is strong enough that he can get away with a lot of this, but against the better defenses, he won't be the difference maker.

Sark is a Brian Kelly - keep it close and try to win tough games at the end with improbable heroics.

I bet the TX fans want him gonzo quick, but who to get to replace him?

Absolutely agree. If his name isn’t Manning, not sure he is a Division 1 QB.

He is a FBS QB, but top tier?

That still remains to be seen. Right now, that answer is "no."

I didn't watch this game, but in recent games, it appears as if his throwing mechanics look like they regressed.

He used to throw with a mostly overhand motion, and you could see his hips and shoulders squaring up properly when releasing the ball.,

These days, it looks like he's trying to sidearm it, since sidearm throws are easier to make when your hips and shoulders aren't in sync.

His quarterback abilities aren't rotten, but they're certainly not anywhere near the top tier.

By QBR, he's the 57th ranked QB (Carr 10). He would do well in a JJ McCarthy scenario

where he's basically a game manager who needs to make a play every once in a great while, and not expected to play like Peyton or Eli and win games.

In addition to the mechanics, he's either regressed, or he's not that good in the first place in progressing through reads. He's had three years with playing experience, and shouldn't be falling for defenses changing looks on him.
