Why are we attached to that sinking ship?
Between openly lobbying for Miami to make the playoff over ND, to ghosting ND's final game on the marquee weekend of the sport, there's no positive relationship there anymore.
Move the Olympic sports to the Big East, and create future scheduling agreements with the other P4 conferences.
It's time for Pete to make some real moves.
If this is the way they treat us out in the open, I can only imagine what is said behind closed doors.
As always I could be wrong, just my 2 cents

fair.
Enough of this bs.
Gloves are off and this is BS.
How different might our playoff standings look if an obvious & egregious holding penalty was called on the most important play of the aTm game was rightly called?

to football.
For football, yes. All other sports, no. Travel is extensive. As long as there is no threat of super conferences (a big if), the ACC is the best over all fit, even if most teams suck right now. It is the best academic P4 conference - Cal, Stan, NC, Va, Duke, Wake, BC. Rivalries with Clem, FSU, Mia, Cal, Stan, SMU make for national attention. The Big 12 has nothing. The private schools - TCU and Baylor - are not elite, just expensive. The public schools are high schools with ash trays. No thanks. Living in Austin and having a daughter just go through the college process (A&M), I can attest to the institutional weakness of these schools. No reason to associate with them. In the ACC, a conference championship is always achievable. ND’s formal presence should stabilize the conference and Clem/FSU stay. These teams will get better and the ACC has longer term potential than the Big 12. Its only independence, the ACC or Big Ten. Sorry to bear truth.
…”create future scheduling agreements with the other P4 conferences” is much much more challenging these days than once upon a time.
Will trust Bevacqua to hash it out for now.
1 - The A.C.C. will improve. Virginia Tech just hired a big name and committed significant funds to get a better roster. Florida State isn't staying "down" forever. Clemson will surge back, too. These games weren't good for our schedule strength this year, but I wouldn't make long-term decisions based on the conference quality in 2025 with so many moving parts.
2 - We're not in a great position to pull out right now. The S.E.C. and Big Ten both are questioning the value of putting us on their schedules at the moment. Yeah, we laughed at Narduzzi's dumb comments, but he's just dumb enough to say out loud what many others are thinking. There isn't a great advantage if you're in a big-time conference to including us on your schedule, because the schedule is already solid enough. This guarantees us 6 games against Power4 opponents. I don't see that being easy to replace right now.
We do need to make our (strong) case regarding officials that are used. We may not have the leverage to demand it in road games, but there is zero reason that we can't use other officials for the home games. It hasn't been satisfactory for quite a long time.
We just want honest calls...after all.

What we have competition wise

The ACC has never embraced ND, and in fact, seems to work against our best interests when ever the opportunity presents itself.
We are, at best, second class citizens, who are routinely subjected to the worst officiating money (and a conference) can buy.
Time to go. Where...I have no idea. But I don't see membership in the ACC, in any way, helping ND academically or athletically.
...these things are cyclical. The ACC is down now...very down. Our slate is weak this year and next year looks to be even worse.
Your approach takes us back to being truly independent, a laudable goal. Why not explore games with top B12 teams? Get Mich and OSU back on the schedule. DUMP NAVY!
It would take a strong and proactive AD to make it happen. I hope Pete is up to the task.
Officiating, scheduling, media presentation, etc, etc.......
The money better be worth it cause the rest is dogshit, amateur hour nonsense.
being completely independent and biasedly shunned w/o being 12 &0
We have a good deal for our non-football teams. The landscape is changing. The big 10 and SEC are trying to kill the ACC. Bevacqua has leverage and he will use it.
If we want to stay independent (which we do), it's nice to have 6 games built in to the schedule. As it stands we can't count on Michigan, Michigan State, USC, etc.
But -- divorce the ACC referees. What a shit show they are.

It makes sense to move away from them from a purely business perspective.
I’d look at the BIG 12 - pick-up a UCF game to get FL access and play some of the other Big 12 schools.
