Notre Dame's losses are more quality than Miami's losses
The College Football Playoff committee has made it pretty clear with their rankings what they think of Notre Dame and Miami's head-to-head matchup, but finally, new committee chairman Hunter Yurachek has made it clear what the committee's thoughts are.
"I think when you look at Notre Dame and Miami, we really compare the losses of those two teams,” Yurachek said. “Miami has lost to two unranked teams, Notre Dame has lost to two teams we have ranked in our Top 13."

I saw an ND defensive lineman get tackled from behind on the game’s most pivotal play. No penalty was called.
Perhaps that was discussed or viewed in the lens of probable reality.
Did ND really get a fair shake in that game?
I’d say no, but I’m not unbiased either.
But I do think that’s the elephant in the room when discussing ND’s resume.
Just my 2 cents as always I could be wrong
As we have all learned since back in the B.C.S. days, it's the entire body of work that matters. How good are the wins? How bad are the losses? How are the teams playing at the end of the season? How is the schedule strength?
Our schedule is 8th. Miami's is 30th. Our Sagarin Rankings are 4 points higher than theirs. We lost to 2 of the Top 8 Sagarin rankings teams by a combined 4 points. Miami lost to #28 and #32 in those same rankings, one of which was at home.
That their wasn't a debate within the committee between these two teams speaks volumes.
selection process or don't want to understand -- possibly deliberately -- it's relevance. It says right there that head-to-head competition matters when the committee is having difficulty determining which of the teams it is comparing is the better team, i.e., when the teams are "comparable". And even then, it's one of the factors, it's not determinative.

Should have ND moved up with its victory over Pitt, yeah maybe but if the upset didn’t happen (Ok over Ala) ND would have stayed at 9 any ways with the win.
