There currently are 134 teams in D1.
- move to 6 divisions of 9 teams allowing 8 division games. All leagues are eliminated for football only. Based on this year, this would allow for: 8 ACC, 6 American, 10 Big 10, 4 Conf USA, 2 Independent, 8 Big 12, 2 MAC, 2 mountain west, 10 SEC, 2 Sun Belt. The leagues as it relates to football would then be eliminated, and divisions would be generally geographically based.
- 3 out of division games that will have no bearing on division ranking allowing for historical rivalries to be maintained, new ones to be established and "pre-season" games
- top 2 teams from each division move to a 12 team playoff
- teams in 5- 7th place in each division play a like team in a bowl.
- bottom team in each division relegated to the minor league
- remaining teams are relegated to the minor league
- remaining 80 teams split across six 13 team divisions
- 12 game division specific schedule
- top 6 teams goto a playoff with 2 teams receiving a bye based on some clear metric
- division winners replace the relegated teams
Players are allowed to transfer once in a 4 year period without sitting out. A second transfer will require a year of sitting. All players have 5 years to play 4 years regardless of the circumstances.
There are only 32 teams in the NFL, much easier to coordinate schedules.
134 teams is too many to coordinate, some lower teams will have to be moved to a lower level league.
12 team playoff is too small for the number of teams. 16 would be better.
The transfer rule is dead on arrival.
