There is no logic from last week to this that justifies jumping Bama over us, BUT nearly every other conference is pissed in some way about how this is shaking out.

Hoping for a Bama blowout loss seems far-fetched. I’d rather stay at 10 - I like that path better.
A&M? Indiana? Georgia?
Bring it.
So their choice is, drop both or leave them both the same. Either choice is good for us.
If they lose Miami will be right behind ND and likely be chosen. Alabama is likely in, even with a loss. I really don't understand why Alabama jumped us this week.
Why wouldn't they put Miami 10, ND 11 and BYU 12 this week?
All hell would break loose if ND finishes at 10 and Miami at 11.
And how close Bama and ND have been each week. Miami won't have that benefit next week and it would set a bad precedent to have one team jump another when neither of them played.

If both Bama and BYU win we are out.
If either lose - I think we will be in.
If both lose - definitely in.

If Alabama beats GA, then they would jump ND anyway and if Alabama loses, then they will drop below ND so the flip really is immaterial as to where ND and Bama will be in the final rankings.
Obviously if Bama was behind us going into CCG and lost they wouldn't vault them over ND, but if they're already ahead of us do they necessarily HAVE to drop below us?
Remember the BS they pulled with PSU and TX last year when they lost CCG...they dropped us a spot to make room for them both dropping a spot without falling below us
They just made it easier to do the same thing and possibly avoid the Mia out ND in drama...dirty work
I just don't see how Bama can lose and stay ahead of us.
I think this sets up an easy out for the committee. If BYU loses, the committee has no need to hold their spot, so then Miami and ND are side by side and they can just say they are basically even, so H2H is the tiebreaker, and Miami is 10. If BYU wins, it pushes ND and Miami out, and they can absolve themselves of a decision.

Then what explains ND's drop, or more importantly, Bama up 1? Was the win over Auburn really that impressive? Or did Bama's loss to Florida State suddenly get better after they lost by 19 to Florida? This reeks of manipulation, and I think it is partly to protect against the ACC being entirely left out. So ND fans should also want Virginia to win.

and I was just listening to Josh Pate's show and he said the exact same thing. The P4 conferences were never supposed to be left out of the CFP entirely, even though it was theoretically set up for that to be a remote possibility. It was just a bone thrown to all G5 conferences. Now that it is a real possibility, the committee is moving to protect against that. Of course, for the committee there is still the nightmare scenario of BYU winning, JMU winning and Puke winning. In that scenario, you likely have 3 B10 schools in, 2 G5 likely in, BYU in, 3 safe SEC in with Ole Miss, Tx A&M and Oklahoma, and the SECCG winner. That would leave 2 spots for Tx Tech, SEC game loser, Miami and ND. I don't think Georgia drops completely out with a loss, so you are probably looking at 10-3 Alabama vs 10-2 Miami, TxTech and ND for the last spot, assuming Alabama loses the SECCG. The committee would have to do two of the following: either still screw the ACC entirely, dump ND, send a #1 SEC seed home, or drop Tech below 10.
While it would probably fuck ND, I would love to see it just because the committee is once again trying to manipulate rankings instead of just producing the top 12 and letting the bracket take care itself. If the ACC doesn't want to be in this spot, then get better as a conference. if Virginia wins, I don't think there is pressure on the committee to move Miami above ND, plus, the ACC is hardly a 2-bid league this year, especially when their CG has a 5-loss Duke playing.

Bama played a great first half and then they converted a 4th and 2 for a score and then held off Auburm? But as I said earlier, that doesn't really matter. If Bama wins, they would jump us anyway and if they lose, they will fall below us. If we are truly as close as the committee infers, a loss won't keep Bama ahead of us.
because I knew it would be worthless. As I said in my 2nd follow-up to you, I think this also provides the committee with a safety net for the ACC. Virginia should beat Puke, but that is hardly a given. If Puke wins, the ACC isn't making the field unless they flip Miami and ND.
It all depends at this point on what happens in Big 12 championship. If BYU wins...ND would seemingly be out.
