Dowd and Bevaqua are both on the CFP oversight committees - let's see what influence they have.

The Selection Committee is unimpressive. The fact that they have to point out that they are "high integrity individuals" is your first sign that something is rotten in Denmark.

A talented group of 13 high-integrity individuals with experience as coaches, student-athletes, college administrators and journalists, along with sitting athletics directors, comprise the selection committee. Members of the committee are Chris Ault, Troy Dannen, Mark Dantonio, Jeff Long, Ivan Maisel, Chris Massaro, Mack Rhoades (chair), Mike Riley, David Sayler, Wesley Walls, Carla Williams and Hunter Yurachek.

The solution is join the Big 12, beat everyone by 70 every game. Basically play an Ohio St. schedule

... in a crappy conference. Get an auto bid. Walk into the 5 spot annually. Just don't sign a long term contract with the Big 12, because as soon as that happens they'll change the rules.

The ACC is a far better fit demographically and we're already there in most sports.

Plus I have disdain for the Big Ten.

Don't necessarily disagree with this, BUT look at Big 12 academic schools rank - dreadful.

The ACC is a better fit from that perspective. Maybe the Big East.

I say it more to prove the point that they shouldn't even be a consideration in the process.

2 spots wasted on teams that will get blown out by whoever they play. But on the other hand, if they had those 2 spots back we'd likely be bitching about Arkansas and S.Carolina getting in over ND.

Agree. If the schools weren't populated by morons, I actually think the Big 12 is a better fit

than the BIG or SEC. They are in a lot of the places we recruit and have overlap with the BIG, SEC and ACC. Plus, I think their BBall is a very solid league.

Yeah, that's true. The Big 10 anymore would accomplish the goal too.

Since they've added USC and Oregon. And a better academic fit.

meaning that the criteria from one week to the next and one analogous situation to the next shouldn't change. For example, treating the AL-Auburn game as a rivalry game while not doing so for ND-Stanford, and then giving Bama credit for blowing the lead and barely winning the game, but not crediting ND for destroying Stanford.

Do you really think that's what they did? Or did they produce the result they want and justify it?
