caving to SEC. Alabama was neatly placed in a spot that keeps them from being left out as they are likely to lose to UGA. This gives the SEC more revenue.

Personally I’d like to see more of the qualifying elements taken out of the committees hands and just leave the seading and filling out any vacancies to them
E.g.
top five conference champions (by resume ranking) qualify
Top five resumes as determined by a unbiased computer algorithm such as colley rankings
Then top five FPI or similar computer rankings used for determining who would be favored such as SP+ and Sagarin (up to 5 until 12 are reached)
If that doesn’t result in 12 teams, then the committee can fill in the rest per their current algorithms (eg favoring conference champion game losers and old glory programs like bama, Oklahoma and Texas
Then rank away
Right now that would make it;
B1G
SEC
B12
G5
ACC/G5
OSU
Indiana
BYU
Georgia
Oregon
OSU
Indiana
ND
Oregon
TT
So this week
OSU
Indiana
Georgia
Oregon
TT
TAM
Ole Miss
Alabama
ND
BYU
North Texas
Virginia
(Notably Oklahoma is first out and n this scheme)
Then Head to Head only comes into play for seeding teams and teams not automatically qualified by conference/resume/fpi
..... and they won't drop for losing, so why guarantee them a spot? Take the top 12 best teams period.
That's why ND not having the extra data point argument was so specious. The conference championship doesn't count for anything anyhow, so what does it matter? Beyond the fact that ND in a typical year plays more tough teams during the year than they do including their conference championship. And ND rarely plays a Grambling, Lamar, or Citadel. So they're not really playing an extra game anyhow with all their cupcakes.
I completely agree in principle, but reality demands a seat at the table.
for the spirit of competition or the game itself. $$$$$$$$$$$$$'s.

Two games And not belonging to a conference is going to bite us in the ass. Which everyone knew would someday be an issue. That day is now.
Add to that the shit schedule and we might get left out.
Where are all the people who claimed we control our own destiny?
