Here is the best case scenario for Notre Dame Today
Texas Tech Wins a "close " game with BYU. Because BYU plays in Big 12 championship Game the CFP committee does not punish BYU and keeps them @ 11. Don't want BYU blown out.
Alabama loses to Georgia and drops to 10. Prefer by 10 or more but we know committee wants to keep Alabama in because they moved them ahead of Notre Dame on Tuesday.
That would mean Notre Dame moves to 9, Alabama to 10, and keeping BYU at 11 would prevent the H2H with Miami to "kick in".
So called experts don't want to diminish championship games so this way not punishing BYU and Alabama by making their championships works out.
Go Irish !!
I want to shut up those cry babies.

heads? And both of ND's losses are top 13 by 4 total points with a QB who never threw a college pass. Big difference there.
That's why the "how good are they now" argument is important.

It's hard to tell on a message board.
Carr starting his first two games in comparison to teams having seasoned QBs is a difference. A returning starter is generally one of the things that people consider in their pre season rankings, because it is a difference.
I'm not saying those losses don't count, but it's also one of the reasons that losing early in the season has always meant less than later in the season. Teams change. If you have a new QB, they gain experience and can get better.
I'm actually in agreement with you somewhat in that the schedule didn't really let us know how well they will play against another strong team. Miami's DL whooped the OL, they haven't really played anyone at that level since then, so have they gotten significantly better, or are they able to just block lower level competition? I've still seen receivers running free. Could better QBs take advantage of that, or were those plays missed because of pressure? Can the pressure get there against better OL?
You can certainly acknowledge though that Carr in his first start is different than Carr in his 12th+ start.

Starting his first two games? That’s our problem not theirs.
The committee should do better than look at the box score like a random fan of some team.
Can you agree with that?
Miami would still give us a game as would Texas A&M.
We’ve beaten up in mostly crappy teams since those two games so we really don’t know what we’ve got. I think all of our 12 opponents combined has a .500 record.
I hope we make it, and I hope we play like we belong.
5 teams on our schedule really sucked, over half of their schedule really sucked
We went 5-2 vs teams with winning records, they went 3-1, and they lost that 1 by the same amount of points as our 2 losses combined
I guess the ACC conference wasn't easy enough.
Why not in cfp? No one in power 4 and should be playing fcs teams.
Not to mention they almost lost to 7 loss Fla.St.
