Exactly! That's why I'm not nailing us to the cross on it, even though I'm a believer in H2H...
The difference is I believed in it in '89 and '93, as well as 2018 when national media was pushing hard that if michigan beat Tosu to go 11-1, they should jump 12-0 Notre Dame (who gave them their loss) because michigan was a completely different team from week 1 and was clearly better than Notre Dame now.
Luckily they lost to Tosu, but never forget that their agenda was to put an 11-1 in the CFP over a 12-0 that beat them.
