So, the committee now has a conundrum

If you can drop if you lose a CCG, then Bama should be below us. If you can't drop, then doesn't OSU remain the #1 seed? But if head-to-head is all that matters when comparing two teams, then OSU has to drop below Indiana. So what's it going to be committee? In all seriousness, Bama lost by 21 points. They could only manage 7 points today and had trouble scoring against a 5-7 Auburn team. There is no way they should stay ranked above us and if the committee drops them below us, I couldn't care less what they do with Miami. You want to move them ahead of us, knock yourselves out.

One spot for Texas and Penn State, two spots dropped by SMU.

Can VA drop for losing to Pittsburgh? Yes. Should FSU be ranked ahead of Bama? No.

Why? On the first one, because VA lost to a 5-loss team in the championship game. On the second one, because there were intervening losses between game 1 and game 13.

These absolute rules and narratives that people are trying to impose on the situation are silly. It's subjective.

I understand that the committee doesn't want to create an incentive to not play conference championship games. But guess what? You can opt out.

I also understand that the committee doesn't want to create an incentive to not schedule non-conference games. But guess what? That won't penalize you in your conference and might give you a path in if you don't make the conference championship.

FSU is the most extreme example that there can be intervening games and head to head isn’t absolutel

Every team who lost a CCG last season dropped.

Do you think OSU will be #1 today?

There's no reason Alabama shouldn't drop below us.

Thread Level: 2

You forget, if #9 Ala can’t drop from a CCG, then #11 BYU can’t either. In that case,

ND is in at #10.

Of course, they could very well just be sculpting what they want to happen regardless of fairness and rules lo,e when the elevated Ala last week over ND after a horrid performance by Ala and an excellent performance by ND.

I think that it is more than they can cover up. I predict that they will pit ND at 9 and Ala at10.

No, BYU was never "in"

Once you take the five conference champions, you take the next highest ranked at-large teams. And BYU would be #8.

Nor can OSU.
