"There is no explanation that could possibly be given to explain the outcome," Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua said to Yahoo Sports. "As I said to Marcus (Freeman), one thing is for sure: Any rankings or show prior to this last one is an absolute joke and a waste of time. Why put these young student-athletes through these false emotions just to pull the rug out from underneath them having not played a game in two weeks and then a group of people in a room shatter their dreams without explanation? We feel like the playoff was stolen from our student-athletes."
rankings anyways, is just weak sauce. This cat is a wimp, no wonder the CFP committee had zero worries about putting Bama in ahead of ND.
When the only response they'd get is "we're disappointed for the student-athletes", why not just leave ND out for a 3 loss, got blown out twice (once by a 5-7 team), Bama.
Unreal.

By virtue of their roles at ND, Fr Dowd is on the CFP Board of Managers and Pete Bevaqua is on the CFP Management Committee. Neither is part of the Selection Committee. But they do both have input to the selection process. But neither 'signed off' on this.
That is 100% within their wheelhouse, and Pete’s quote suggests that he lacks a fundamental understanding of the process.
Soo … question that and demand and get an answer.
That’s what I mean when I say they signed off. If the governance is right, none of this is an issue.
What was Pete's quote? I missed it.
Well, if there was a process, shouldn’t that explain the outcome?
I don’t think Pete is particularly smart.

That makes this 10X worse. Time to let this cat go and get an AD that gives a shite about the programs and student athletes under him.
PB's 2 press comments I've read about this situation make him look like a total wimp. Players and coaches deserve a lot better.
