So ND was penalized because they didn’t play in a conference championship.

But Alabama wasn’t penalized for getting slaughtered because it was in a championship game.

CFP is insanely stupid.

I still think Miami got in because Virginia lost and the committee wanted an ACC school in the CFP.

It is (borderline) unethical what the committee did to consistently rank ND ahead of Miami and then have Miami jump ND in the last rankings...despite both teams not having played this past weekend. And then some made-up B.S. explanation from Yurachek about how BYU's loss made the head-to-head between Miami and ND all-of-a-sudden relevant.
I also heard some B.S. tonight about how what the committee did with Miami was to make-up what happened last year. As if the committee is handing out lifetime achievement rankings for a school like Miami. Don't know.

Just a long-frustrating day.

I hope Miami and Alabama get rolled.

There were two things going on with the committee: 1) getting Alabama in no matter what. and 2) making sure the ACC was represented.

You knew they weren't going to let the ACC go unrepresented. So they invented scenarios to justify their bullshit.

It has NOTHING to do with that... that's just the lip service they provide as cover

It's purely about ESPN protecting their product, the SEC

They see ND on the rise and since they don't have their teeth in us, don't want to see their product eliminated by us again

They know their actual level of football is down, so anything to protect their cash cow

It had everything to do with protecting Alabama's ass.

I thought the committee was supposed to look at the whole body of work which includes eye test.

I have no idea how anyone could say ND is not a Top 10 team. They can play with anyone. I think week 1 needs to be looked at in context. We had a freshman QB making his first start on the road. If these two teams played today at a neutral site, I think ND wins convincingly. ND is a much different and better team than week 1. Why isn’t Bama held to the same standard of having one of the worst losses to a 7 loss FSU team. They barely beat a shitty Auburn and got smoked yesterday. To put Tulane and JMU in is a sin. Just my opinion guys but this was a total fuck job. How could ND be included in the playoffs with the rankings for weeks only to magically drop on the final ranking? Also, anyone notice that ACC Network all last week was playing the ND/Miami game? To be honest, I don’t have a problem with Miami getting in but the nonsense with Bama is puzzling. They have looked horrible the last month and didn’t even drop in the rankings and they have 3 losses.

Exactly the way I look at it. No problem with Miami, big problem with Alabama.

FSU in game 1 of the 2025 season is not a measure of the current Alabama team, but ND's game 1 against Miami is a measure of the current ND team because of the "magic" that brought them together with Miami in the committee rankings, in which case the context of that game is disappeared. How do otherwise reasonable people fall into this illogic? It's baffling.

was listening to the announcers of all 3 ABC games essentially give endless testimonials in favor of Miami being included, THEN today, watching Nick Saban act like ND got screwed and that the real culprit was allowing JMU and Tulane in the field. He is selling you one idea, that he believes ND got screwed and that is why change is needed, but what he doesn't mention is that if you exclude the G5 teams, he doesn't necessarily mean he wants ND, and in this case BYU, in the field. Yes, by the final top 12, those would've been the final 2 in the field, but if anyone believe the committee wouldn't have manipulated the rankings to bring Texas and Vandy into the argument, the two teams behind BYU, i have some beachfront property in Idaho to sell you. BYU would've dropped at least 2, probably 3. the committee would've been free to drop Alabama to 10, still safe, and then they could argue about Miami, ND, Vandy, and Texas.

Whatever changes the ESPN talking heads suggest will always benefit the SEC first, maybe the B10 second, and after that, they couldn't give a shit.
