The biggest difference is Jack had much sharper elbows than Pete. He swung a bat that had weight

and knew how to use leverage. Pete, I'm afraid, is just a media guy. No one is afraid of him the way they were of Jack.

Swarbrick is, and always has been, a creature of the NCAA good old boy system.

With his experience at NBC, Bevaqua had to have some inkling about how things would shake out.

Do the conferences hold more clout than ESPN? I find it hard to believe Bevaqua was not talking with network execs in some fashion about ND’s inclusion.

How does ND move forward in good faith w espn? Game day appearances, team access, etc? With the ACC commissioner? With the CFP?

The midnight hour rug pull simply destroys trust.

Easy, you don't give them access and you break ties for cause with the ACC. It's not like ESPN is

going to allow ND players to win any big awards anyway.

How do you replace those 5-6 games?

It's getting harder, but people will play. You don't have to play SEC or ACC teams to field 12 games

and ESPN is now encouraging teams to go back to cup-cake scheduling - Kirk specifically keeps bringing the narrative up (pushing it). So, it plays right in line.

Swarbrick did a far superior job handling the committee. We no longer have that strong link.

He got things done. He came out with favorable situations for ND when the committee was against them and wanted to force ND in a conference to get into NC postseason opportunities. Pete doesn't have that pull or the propaganda against ND by ESPN and ACC that started a few weeks ago wouldn't have happened.

Saban still has more clout than Pete, and the result this week shows. He's been touting it for weeks on GameDay.
