He deserves the opportunity to start and make his case for a pro career.
His ability as a QB is evident and he is, by accounts, including his coach's, a great guy and great teammate.

He's not going to transfer to someplace to be a backup. That may limit his opportunities.
It is sad that he won't have an ND degree.
