National brand, national NIL fund?

Can ND utilize its large in number and geographic reach fan base to fund its NIL? Small/Moderate donations from thousands. I have no idea about the rules governing these funds, just thinking it would be a strong cudgel to ESPN.

ESPN is a large network conglomerate. You would have to fight fire with fire, but I like your many small contributions idea for NIL. If you want to combine NIL with a message to a sports network like that the only option I can imagine would be something like Peacock. I am not a big fan of Peacock, but it has its benefits at times, and I think it can be improved over time.

Anyways, if properly promoted, maybe some enterprising Notre Dame supporter can rally the fanbase to sign up for Peacock on a specific date, or time frame, with the promise of increasing the revenues allotted to Notre Dame in the current deal if a certain number is reached. Obviously, do not set the date unless you have a certain number of pledged subcriptions.

Still, it may not register with ESPN unless it is unexpectedly wildly success and people also cancel their ESPN for a month or two, but it might increase bargaining power for a better deal with NBC/Peacock for Notre Dame at some point. This is the only network/NIL message scenario that I can currently think of at the moment.

Not quite like the collection basket at Mass but maybe some will see it as a small way to chip in. Anyway, whatever ideas are adopted, I do like the idea of finding ways for small donations to make an impact.

What exactly is Peacock going to do to fight back against ESPN?

ESPN doesn’t get half of our games to begin with and meanwhile broadcasts dozens of games for 13-14
Consecutive weekends. Peacock is meh

ESPN’s current lineup does not dictate future lineups, and Peacock is not a standalone entity.

I believe Peacock is associated with NBC and NBC Sports. Just because contributions are small it doesn’t mean it will not make an impact. It may be the best way for some to get involved.
