Yesterday, Patrick mentioned a source connected to the committee told him that ND was intentionally jumped by Alabama and strung along for the drama and obvious disappointment.
I rewatched the NBC YouTube version of the interview this AM and at 2:35 there is an obvious edit and no mention of this by Patrick.
Patrick quoted an inside source. Even if only for optics purposes, I would think the Board of Managers and Management Committee has a duty to investigate whether there was any outside influence of collusion with ESPN.
If so, that's a problem the CFP doesn't want, and better to address it now.

...bad stuff would inevitably leak. It always does.

I would sue the committee and see what falls out in discovery.
would be crapped. I see this all the time. 1. People think texts are somehow invisible and inaccessible. 2. People say stuff in texts that's even worse than what they'd say live. 3. People assume texts can't be retrieved once deleted. Wrong.
I think that alone would create an immense amount of leverage for ND.

They all (Herbie) showed their true allegiances. Takes years to develop reputation and one weekend to crush it.
