In a nutshell, ND will push for a 16-team playoff with ND-specific MOU's to prevent what transpired on Sunday.
ND will yell at ACC leadership in the coming months, and life will go on.
ND has no leadership.

It’s a public document in a very publicity intensive organization. It’s at least as binding as the proverbial “court of public opinion”
which is to say it probably has MORE power than a binding contract, because the jury that matters isn’t interested in nitpicky defenses of a breach.
Pete did fine. He was direct and he didn't dodge questions. He refused to call out other teams. No problem with that.
It was clear that he loves ND and that he is pissed. I don't know what he could have done that would placate others. Throw a temper tantrum? Bitch and moan? While that might have riled up the ND base, it would serve no purpose.
I will take him over Jack every day and twice on Sunday.
Who was more like Kevin Bacon in Animal House, ala "thank you, may I have another."
But I don’t think it would have been wise for him to burn the house down right now. Make sure you have an exit plan before you do that.

NIL, the Portal, TV deals and private equity have created chaos.
Behind the scenes crafty minds are struggling to re-create stability.
It's tough to see where we are heading or how we shall negotiate this potholed terrain.
Worst of all... it's hard to imagine how a consensus can congeal with so many different "interests" pulling in so many different directions.
Buckle up and brace for impact.

He served as CEO of the PGA and President and Chairman of NBC Sports.
He's got a few more chips on the table than you do.
of a mind to cede control of our sports future to a hedge fund or cabal of conferences.
He spoke at the ND 50th reunion dinner this past year. He is knowledgeable, informed, and has the background to navigate us through these issues. This is not a man that has no idea what he is doing.
Pete Bevacqua is a war-time consiglieri.
Would love to see Finebaum taken out ala Moe Greene…
(Figuratively…of course.)

squeezing by Auburn? Or, not ask him how Alabama didn't drop in CFC rankings after getting blown out by Georgia and only producing 3 yards on the ground. Or how the narrative presented by ESPN was always about Miami versus Notre Dame when the narrative should have been about Alabama versus Notre Dame. Or how McIlroy could say Alabama was definitely in and then in the next breath say Notre Dame would have been one of his two favorites to win the national title. I like McIlroy he has always been fair to Notre Dame until he got the message from ESPN/SEC to say Alabama was definitely in IMO.
I do think the SEC is the strongest conference but they definitely passed the message to SEC who then thought up narrative to ESPN and possibly the committee that they feared ND this year.
There are plenty of people who agree that Alabama shouldn't be in but there are also plenty of people who would argue about Texas/Vandebilt/BYU have arguments too re: ND.
Again, if Miami had always been ahead of ND, this all would be moot. It is the deliberate effort to essentially "lie" about where ND stood in all the rankings prior to the final one and the deliberate lame ass effort to bump up Alabama and treat BYU differently after a similar loss to make up for the fact they wanted an ACC team in the playoff.
And he has no better understanding of how the committee could do what they did than we do.

They have no desire to wrestle with the SEC, much less Disney.
You, fan, on the other hand, should contact Anthony Travel for the Green Bay excursion and exclusive ND-logo cheese head w/ matching gold shirt.

...and promote Alabama...because they could.

And will lie in wait until it needs to be resurfaced. "Permanent damage" doesn't necessarily mean everything is beyond repair. The ACC has been put on notice. How they respond going forward is up to them.

That was what was called for. Going ballistic accomplishes nothing. He didn't need nor did he likely receive any orders from Dowd.
Ballistic is your word, not mine btw.
Any meaningful actions he is going to take will occur behind the scenes. No press conference banter is going to make the ACC "shiver in their boots for the next time". (Your words)
Pete appears to be a smart guy so I trust in his ability and know how.
