1) The SEC benefited, SOS-wise at least, for the entire season and in the committee "deliberations" (LOL), from an egregious officiating failure by SEC officials in the ND-TA&M game and, it appears, nobody even raised the issue in the rankings.
2) The ACC's only playoff-worthy team did not receive the automatic bid as conference champion because of the ACC's own stupidity in not having a rankings-related tiebreaker for its CCG. The ACC wasn't made to pay for that error, ND was.
Because of these mistakes of others, an ND-team capable of winning the championship was excluded from that opportunity. That is not just.

compete for a championship after winning 10 games in a row in dominating fashion and our total margin of loss was by 4 fucking points and context of those games needs to be considered. This team was a legit contender to win it all and everyone knows it. The playoffs should be the 12 best teams period. ND is not 13th best. They are a legit top 4 team. The Playoff Committee is a bunch of jackasses and I hope they get what's coming to them one day. I honestly don't know how some people can live with themselves. ESPN and those idiots are basically silent about Bama. They didn't drop after getting killed in the conference championship game, yet every other team to lose that game has basically dropped in rankings. They got killed by a 7 loss FSU. Barely beat Auburn. Got cooked by Georgia. Magically leap frogged over ND two weeks ago after their poor performance against Auburn. This stuff needs to be called out. It's basically fraud against ND. I'm thankful there have been some pundits in our corner saying what happened was bs. There is no doubt this was a deliberate plan by the committee to screw over ND and get their teams into the playoffs.

Any process subject to human manipulation will be.
is to remove humans as much as possible from the equation. Some think the weekly shows need to go and I 100% disagree. Yes, transparency provided 0 to ND this year, but I the only thing not having a weekly show does is save ND fans this year from thinking ND was in when they weren't. No weekly show just opens the door for more manipulation, and there will come a time when a fringe team is squeezed out for a Texas or Vandy-like team to give the SEC a 5th of 6th team they didn't deserve.
Only a combination of computer polls along with a bunch of official metrics will there be a process that should eliminate most, if not all, ways of manipulation. I would expect any computer poll or metric to release its formula so it can be verified by people independent of the process. Many of the computer people won't like that, but tough shit, either release it, or it doesn't get included. Now, I highly doubt the SEC/ESPN would agree to that as they like having humans be able to massage the rankings to fit their whims, but if humans are included going forward, ND and any team not from the SEC/ACC is susceptible to being screwed in the last ranking. Some may think the B10 would be protected as well, but I think the SEC would easily shit on them if they could and get away with it.
I'm not convinced both Miami and Virginia aren't in the CFP had Virginia won their conference.
I really hope the team uses this to prepare better and execute better for 2026. Focus on what you can control.
If ND isn't 5-0, then the team is already in deep shit.
