I guess I heard a different press conference. I thought Bevacqua did great

I think he threaded the needle perfectly. He made it clear ND is pissed at the ACC and the committee without sounding like sour grapes. He even belittled the committee for being "impressed" Alabama went for it on 4th and 2 against a weak opponent.

He used great diplomatic language when talking about stadiums selling out with Notre Dame in town, which obviously translated into "the ACC is a crap football conference." I thought it was a great smackdown of all things ACC football.

Be sure that behind closed doors he and the university are dealing with the ACC and the committee much more forcefully, especially that clown Hunter Yurachek. I don't think someone as experienced as Bevacqua is going to overplay a hand he knows Notre Dame may not have. I think he's got this from what I saw.

I think he said what he should but fans needed a rally cry

That was an opportunity missed. You’ve never had a more focused and pissed off fan base. Now is the time to leverage that and today would have been a good starting point.

The only thing fans need is to get over it....but never forget.

The best thing for ND to do is observe and guide the process to see this never happens again to one of a handful of teams that are talented enough and coached well enough to win it all.

And eliminating ANY input from ESPN is a great place to start.

whole Bama thing is a complete joke and I hope the committee continues to get pounded on that. This playoff committee truly is a farce and anyone with a brain know it. They didn't get the 12 best teams in and totally f*cked over one of the best teams that was capable of winning it all.

Thread Level: 3

Agreed, the SEC/BAMA is the problem here, ACC/Miami is the red herring.

I think he did OK. Query whether it was necessary. The average bear doesn’t deal in subtlety.

Which is exactly where he was coming from. But when people are still mad, it just comes across as weak.
