Did we want to keep the same setup?

Or were we open to playing in September? Hard to tell from the articles.

It sounds like USC wanted it early in the season, i haven't seen any response from ND

May be unpopular opinion, but I would say if SC wanted too…

Play them in September. I don’t know if that would cause an issue with ACC or one of the other team’s we scheduled. I know we generally dont drop out of prior commitments unless we feel OK paying a large fee.

Rivalry aside, BYU better opponent at least in the short term

22-4 over the last 2 years. Tough and physical. A real road environment. USC may end up getting so much talent they can win 11 games eventually but BYU is a better program right now.

Best we could do with SC taking a pass.

But apparently, at the same time, lost the little chance of playing USC

What a bunch of pussies.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

In their lust for money, USC thought nothing of killing off the 100+ year old Pac 10, so ending the nation's longest intersectional rivalry means nothing to them.

That's unfortunately, the way to schedule now.

You schedule 3 FCS warm up games. Play no one of any significance the rest of the way, except conference games. You end up playing one or two tough games the entire year. The polls and the committee see a 12-0 or 11-1 record at the end of the season and figure you have to be one of the best teams in the country. USC, like everyone else, has to see how successful that formula can be. Tough out of conference games will go away unless the way teams are ranked changes.
