the AD tells him that he has to cheat at every opportunity or he will get fired with cause? Some things never change and Michigan cheating is one of them. They are the lowlife bums of collegiate athletics.

His teams play physical and hard which fits Michigan. He will more resources and talent than he ever did at Utah, but also harder schedules and more pressure.
I think it’s a great hire considering the situation they were in and the options available. It likely puts them in a position for a much better higher in a handful of years.
Michigan got lucky that he was suddenly available.

optimism during his 1st year, which won't survive his 2nd.
to, including hiring coaches and assistants with zero moral compass, willing to stoop to those depths with him. And Harbaugh was inches away from being fired before he Charmined up the schedule and created the worst cheating scandal in the history of college football. Not to mention all the off the field stuff that those people have been busted for.
Is Wittingham willing to go there and hire those types of coaches and take those types of measures? Because that's what he'll have to do to give UM the results they want.
This has disaster written all over it and my popcorn is warm and buttered.
Either Wittingham gets comfortable with breaking every rule ever made to win or UM gets comfortable with 3-4 loss seasons.

He is a good coach but hard to imagine he has much gas left in the tank
Good coach...but very underwhelming hire. They had to give him a five year contract too. Between this and PSU, and the coaching pool is not deep this year.
change which they desperately need. Thats a good hire. (Not sure he will last 5 years)
change. Although, I hope they continue to struggle...lol
