… opted out of their precious championship game – and some say that they did – they would still be fine with that and Alabama would still not get penalized. Eventually they would be calling Alabama stupid for not resting their starting players, based on their logic.
The entire reason for a committee is to allow for corruption.

I believe Bama is the first team to get smoked in Conference Title game and didn’t drop in rankings.
This was a complete conspiracy to screw ND for not being on a conference and to help their own for money reasons. The committee got away with it because ND had two losses. As someone on the board said, ND will need to be undefeated or only have 1 loss to get into the playoffs. People hate that ND is not in a conference and if they can screw over ND for it, they will.
The fix was in when the committee was "impressed" with a mediocre win over Auburn

Woulda been better if they just said "We're putting Bama in regardless of outcome". At least they would've come across as honest that way, completely corrupt (which they are), but honest about it.
