To much chatter up here Giants want Freeman. No way he leaves for this.

Coach Freeman seems genuinely committed to his family.

South Bend is a great place to raise his children... whereas coaching an NFL team in a major metropolis might mean becoming an absent father.

And I remember here some thought Freeman was a bad hire

And now we would be in trouble if he left. I personally think he thinks he can win a national championship here and will give it at least through next year with C.J. Carr.

I didn’t think he was a bad hire, but I did wonder if he was the best we could do. Aldo

did not like that it seemed as if we hired a guy cuz the players ‘liked’ him. Not a good idea. But I am glad of course st how great he has worked out. Swarbrick knew what he was doing with this hire, it seems.

Freeman still needs quality coordinators and coaches around him. Especially if he goes to the nfl.

He is a great face of the program, recruiter a sets a standard. Also a very good motivator

Not sure he is the best in game coach.

Among others. There isn't a top CFB coach that doesn't have great coordinators - that is part of the job.

Poor take.

t way. ND has yet to announce any sort of contract extension, and MF has been very quiet outside of the Heisman ceremony.

I don’t see the NFL as a good fit for Coach Freeman.

He connects well with college athletes. He seems to enjoy the Notre Dame experience and recruiting athletes to be a part of it.

NFL coaches have less control. The business and rosters are controlled by the front office.

Not saying Freeman doesn’t have the right stuff to be a successful NFL coach. Just saying college and particularly Notre Dame, seems like a much more natural fit for Freeman.

Yep, there are successful college coaches and there are NFL coaches; the only guys I would say......

......did both are Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll. Great coaches that weren't successful at both levels: Bill Walsh - NFL (only); Nick Saban - college; Holtz - college; Urban Meyer - college; John McKay - college; Dan Devine - college; so far Bill Belichick - NFL(only)

Thread Level: 4

Like him or not, don’t forget Jim Harbaugh; he’s won at both levels…

I was wondering what percentage people would put in him leaving this year.

I don’t think the chance is 0 but not better than 20%

If he does leave, anybody want to see Al golden hired?

If Freeman goes, who do we go get? Many top coaches have inked new deals. Golden may be beat to keep continuity and coordinators in place, but would hurt recruiting big time. Still would be surprised if Freeman left. He is close to a natty and next two years can get it done.
