But, but, what about all the extra practices & the young guys playing for the experience?
That all we've been hearing from the talking heads since selection Sunday. Out of all 12 teams, how many have a legit shot of even making it to the title game? Let's expand to 16 and make this whole thing even more uninteresting. Then what happens to the all important Birmingham Pop Tart New Mexico etc etc Bowl? I support the ND players 100% in their decision.
I think the extra practices were worth it for non starters. The games are a joke.
Extra practices for offensive lineman that have to step up next year would have been beneficial.
I am not arguing we should have played but there would seem to be some value in that.
The games are boring and they suck especially with NIL. Balls need to die.
And that’s not even getting in to the pop tarts bowl, which is a complete total mockery

The NCAA left a vacuum in college sports and lost control of the college football. Bowl games became
meaningless money grabs for advertisers long ago. Now it's just business dudes and advertisers lining their pockets every year
producing unwanted showcases for their product. All the great Bowl game venues are now just meaningless references to the
past. One of the great traditions started up over a century ago - the Tournament Roses Parade or the Rose Bowl parade which
led to the Rose Bowl game has lost its luster. The Bowl game used to help financially support the parade but is now just an
advertisement venue only. Maybe I'm being sentimental but I haven't watched a Rose Bowl game or the parade in years. That
joy of New Year's day bowl games is long gone.

Gambling will keep those lower tier bowls alive.
It’s not just a TV thing. Gamblers need product as well.
It’s butts in the seats and advertising paying big bucks. How long will Kellanova want to invest
in a losing proposition? This game more than likely didn’t cover the stadium naming rights for the year.
It’s viewership that drives advertising rates.
Eyeballs are more important than in stadium attendance.
Many of the stadiums have sparse attendance.
Many people watch a lousy bowl game because they have money on it.

How rife will corruption be in events like that?
This is nothing new. As long as advertisers keep the money flowing to ESPN/Disney,
bowl games will continue.
Game attendance means nothing, TV viewership means everything.
