My wife had a conniption fit, my daughter texted her that he re-signed and she thought it was

resigned. She had a big job in education before she retired. I told her no way he resigned and she is breathing hard with long sighs of relief. I haven't seen her sigh that much in a long time.

My grandson texted in our family group text that MF had resigned.

I was this close (my index finger and thumb are almost touching) to throwing open the front window and yelling "nooooooo". My son got involved and simply texted "re-signed". Then I was tempted to throw open the front window and yell "yessssss".

I remain perplexed by the NFL interest in Freeman.

He has no playing or coaching history in the NFL, he's not an X&O coach, his personal & personnel strengths don't appear relevant in the NFL context and he hasn't yet coached a season at ND in which he did not lose to at least one team he should not have lost to. Beyond John Mara's man crush, I'm baffled.

I am perplexed by Freeman's interest in the NFL (to the extent that he had any)

He must have a great agent - that seems clear.

The NFL sucks. The team with the best QB/WRs combo wins. The game is boring. The season is outrageously long - 17 games!

Marcus seems to relish his role as mentor and developer of young men. I can't understand why he would have any interest in the NFL (if he had any).

The Giants had interest in him. Why would one ever deny interest when it makes you more money at

I think the NFL sucks big time and can't imagine Marcus was ever interested. It is a completely different game and doesn't align to Marcus' strengths as a motivator and teacher.

I would be very surprised if he had any interest in an NFL coaching opportunity.

No matter - I am very glad that we ponied up whatever it took to secure him for at least a little bit more.

As hoped. Stupid to think he himself would squelch the rumors. The University has to...with $$$.

Coach Freeman seems like a very grounded human being.

South Bend is a lot easier place in which to raise children than NYC.

I know there is a buyout but if somebody wants MF and he's willing to listen, then a buyout won't stop it. And then there's the negative recruiting from now on. Will he be around for a recruit's college career? That will be the messaging from our opponents.
