Good team they played.
But did ND beat a team better than Texas this season?
So many on here need to let this go. No matter what any of the teams in the playoff do or don't do, ND wasn't one of them, so continually playing the what if game is pointless. Claiming ND would have easy wins in hypothetical matches is the same thing people bitch about when ESPN does it for the SEC.
Took the words right out of my mouth. This board is insufferable right now with the chest beating bravado what if’s. We lost to Miami and A&M period. And then played a pedestrian schedule.
We have no idea what we would have done against these teams other than th woulda shoulda coulda bullshit.

Alabama and beat Stanford handily while Alabama barely beat Auburn and suddenly Alabama passed them. A week later Alabama gets crushed by Georgia and gets -3 yards rushing yet did not deserve to be dropped?! Give me a break and ESPN never mentions that narrative and even has all their employees say Alabama is a lock? No, that was their employees playing the company luine with ESPN and the committee.
I was on here disagreeing with it then, and I still believe ND got screwed. But that has nothing to do with the question I asked. Does ND have a better win than Ohio State's win vs Texas? And the answer is obviously no, they don't. At best, beating USC is equal to OSU beating Texas. nd678 was arguing that Ohio State was overrated, and if that's the case, then ND might be as well, because they don't have a better win than Ohio State's over Texas and they also lost to Miami, just like Ohio State. ND's 10 straight wins weren't all against cupcakes, but it was hardly a murderer's row of quality teams. But so many on here are arguing like whiny SEC fans, ignoring the negatives on ND's schedule and only focusing on the positives. ND had several reasons to be included in the 12-team field, but they also had several not to be included, and this year, they unfortunately fell on the wrong side of the cut line. Yes, the manipulation in the rankings was a joke, but so far, the last two teams in haven't lost yet, and if Miami can beat OSU, then maybe Indiana isn't all that despite being undefeated and #1, and Alabama can beat them.
Ohio State losing to Miami doesn't necessarily mean ND should have been in the CFP, and it certainly doesn't mean that ND should have been in over Ohio State. It just means Ohio State probably wasn't as good as everyone thought. Nothing is going to change the fact that ND is not in the CFP, as shitty as that is and as manipulative as the process was to make it happen, yet so many on here seem to be watching every game in the CFP as a way of carrying out self-flagellation so you can continue howling at the moon about it. Start focusing your attention elsewhere, this season for ND is over.
win against Auburn and the keeping of them ahead of us after their atrocious effort against Georgia will wwigh on my mind until we erase it hopefully next season.
