Just don't jump. Remember ND is more like Dabo than Indiana or Colorado when it comes to portal use.
Baby steps. We no longer only shop down the Ivy league 5th year isle and now we can pull from other schools, though still largely players with one year of eligibility left.
To think we will go out and land the hottest portal players is a wish and a dream at this point. We still have a long way to go before getting to the point of just buying a new team year in and year out. One of the strongest parts of Freeman has been his staff's ability to develop talent. I personally like that. For the most part, other than kickers, the transfers he's brought in have been good complimentary pieces. Nothing earth shattering but good adds that filled some glaring holes.
DL is without question a must. We need two bodies there. Outside of WR this group has been the weakest link for years now. Losing one of the most productive but underutilized pieces (Burnham) will hurt. And we really need a true pair of DTs that can eat space, play a lot of snaps and get a lot of pressure up the middle.
And look where its gotten Dabo.
