Take it for what it is worth, but On3 does contact recruits, agents, and the schools, so it means something. They might be wrong, but they are usually right.

Both ND and their alumni base are among the wealthiest - far more than Texas Tech. But they are not willing to use their hard earned money to buy football or basketball players. I can’t say I blame them. Even if I had $10 billion I would still not feel comfortable in contributing to NIL payments. It would just not seem ethical to me.
I bet if a billionaire ND alum (and there are a few) came to the Administration offering to give whatever it takes to get the best players in the Portal, that he would be told to give to the general university fund, and don’t contact recruits.
is the now allowed booster fund. TT has Campbell and more behind him that are filling the collective with cash...IU has the same thing
While values fluctuate, the endowment is a significant financial resource, supporting scholarships, academic programs, and research, often placing Notre Dame in the top 10 for endowment size.

no school is paying for football with their endowment, it comes from boosters

Very little of most endowments is available for ad hoc spending to get a new left tackle. Trust me on this. Almost all of it is restricted in various ways.
Rich alumni need to be approached, with an eye to creating a dedicated fund.
To read this board, people seem to think an endowment is a big piggy bank. Not how it works.
Everyone knows about Campbell, the oil billionaire who is a former Tx-Tech offensive lineman. And I’m aware of Mark Cuban and IU.
My point is that ND is also very wealthy (2,000+ alums have at least $30 million each), and ND ia in the top 10 in endowment. But the Administration does mot allow boosters to get involved directly. ND requires no strings attached donations only ti a general NIL collective. As usual, we are playing by one set of strict rules, and everyone else a different one.
If you drop 30 million, you will get a call

they promised him that he could play his preferred boundary corner position.
Interestingly, Chad Bowden did everything he possibly could to avoid the kid going to ND as he knows what would happen.
He was a luxury depth piece. His value was in his experience should Golden be injured, but we have multiple more talented CB's who could move to nickel if necessary.
The loss of Marsh stung a lot. This one does not.
