ND has to stop this wait a week just to get the player on campus for a visit shit.

Given Freeman's success with the portal, I think he knows what he is doing

Our pursuit time did seem a little lagging, if I’m being honest.

We don’t know what ND’s NIL budget is. We have no idea how much it cost to retain the likely Heisman favorite and 9 (maybe 10) of your 11 defensive starters. Including probably one of the highest paid players in defense. We don’t know how much 2 likely NFL lineman will cost in Jag and Lambert and a 2 year starter at LT in Knapp.

The entire ND fanbase didn’t want Williams to walk, and ND stepped up when he was getting big offers.

We have no clue how much it cost to sign the best recruiting class we have had since the early 90s.

We have no idea how confident they are on other players that are a bigger need or a better value.

We have no idea what other teams are paying. Perhaps they are over paying and ND can find similar options for less money that they view as equals.

Time will tell, and if he strike out big time I’ll be just as upset. But Freeman and staff have earned some trust.

Too early to pull the e brake - plus the top 50(??) all have 2-3 landing spots

And pretty firm offers, not to mention agents, or they wouldn’t be in the portal. Maybe it is top 200 and not 50, but the others guys 500-4009 are just throwing their name to the wind.

We’ll see how it shakes out, and I also think there’s some very solid lower D1 and D2 talent out there if you take the time to look.

ND doesn’t have a bunch of money left to spend. The rightfully did it in retention and recruiting.

They have to land multiple DT’s. Any over payment will go there. The rest will go on a valuation process.

ND doesn’t have unlimited money, unfortunately.

Agree. But what’s crazy is some of these schools seem like they do.

They are losing a lot of where their money was being spent, with basically 2 star kids behind them that they can’t rely on replacing and who are not demanding big NIL dollars. So they have a bigger need and bigger budget.

Plus, they are a fanbase that is tasting success and they know exactly why the success has happened for them. Their NIL is at a peak level.

ND has recruiting really well and has guys that can backfill those positions at a much higher level. Using the extreme as an example, ND could have portaled over Love 2 years ago when he was a Freshman with only 385 yards who many consider fast, but runs too straight up and may need more time to develop. ND knew they had something and didn’t. It paid off.

Hoping ND feels that same about their young talent.

They're using high school recruiting logic.

Where you wait and want to be the last stop on the visit train.

In the portal, it's the exact opposite.

They went the tinder route and got the clap.........two years in a row.

You'd think, like the NFL the visit would be the least important part of the process.

That the contract discussions prior to the visit would control.

It’s not the timing of the visit so much as waiting until after the visit to make the bona fide offer.

Unless ND’s $ is just pathetic, but I find that hard to believe.
