My (questionable?) proposal for playoff selection process going forward
I think it's beyond question at this point the committee was corrupt this year. Moving Alabama ahead of the Irish because of a mediocre win over Auburn that the committee laughably deemed "impressive" and moving Miami ahead because of the ridiculous "now we can compare them side-by-side" reasoning proved it.
Starting in 2026 the committee should reserve the final two at-large berths to the top two teams remaining as determined by a consensus of computer rankings (ESPN, Jeff Sagarin, Colley Matrix, Massey and CBS). This year it would have been (unsurprisingly) Notre Dame and Miami, with Alabama left out in the cold.
At the very least it would remove one element of human bias...humans who are affiliated with conferences and have their best interests at heart despite what they might say.
