DT Ezra Christensen to Colorado

The 1st Team C-USA DT was offered by ND. He was a graduate transfer, so academics probably had nothing to do with it. Colorado probably offered more $$.

Alabama DT James Smith and his buddy LB Russaw no longer considering ND. Probably between Ohio State and Mizzou.

Francis Brewu is supposedly 50/50 between ND and Tenn.

Don’t be surprised if ND does not sign a single true DT from an FBS school. There may be some FCS or Ivy League DT that would be willing to come for a low compensation, but evidently ND is not willing to pay the $750,000 to $1 million it takes to get a really good FBS DT.

I love the goofy inane mantra that every time ND doesn't get a guy it is because of money.

Or maybe those guys really weren't interested in ND?

Take it for what you think it is worth, but they have been fairly accurate. They do talk to the players and their agents, which means a lot more than the homer speculation of the various ND fanboy sites.

One thing I think you can be pretty sure about is that ND does not offer the money that T-Tech, Indiana, Tenn, USC, and Ohio St offers.

The ND degree and 40 years of earning potential are not paramount in the transaction, unfortunately.

We will never find much in the portal. Some years we may but most we get fringe pieces.

Losing depth to guys in the portal needs to offset by incoming freshman. But you have to know that most that don’t play as freshman likely won’t stay.

It almost seems unsustainable. Especially when juniors that play 1 to 2 years go pro because they have their degrees and see no benifit to more college FB.

We are losing 4 all American talent on offense with guys that still have 1 to 2 years eligibility.

What do you mean we have lost 4 All-American quality guys?

My only point is it’s hard to lose top notch players to the nfl, lost a lot of depth to the portal and not able to get an awful lot from the portal. Puts pressure on going guys being able to produce and quickly when they finally get playing time.

We have had some luck in the past but this year so far has been a dud.
