And when we struck out, we found NIL money and playing time for him? AND nobody else offered him enough to go elsewhere or he never wanted to leave in the first place.

Because he darn sure did not want to transfer for more playing time, because there is just no one ahead of him. And he wasn’t leaving due to the cold weather, since he is from Canada.
So it had to be about money. You might be on to something about him removing himself being an indicator that the coaches don’t think they will get any DTs off the Portal. That and the 15 leaving surely freed up some cash.
