If Carson Beck graduated college two years ago and isn’t in classes, how is he playing CFB?

But yes, given how many ND students would love to have their education paid for, athletes should be in classes. I think Sam Hartman took a few but it was nothing substantial. I dunno. NCAA should drop one of A’s because not many guys are at that point are looking at degrees.

I suspect that the Gipp was not academically inclined

I remember distinctly several football players from my class of 1969 who were less than erudite.

On the other hand one of my best friends started at left guard with close to a 4.0 I’m Mechanical Engineering

The pool hall was Gipp's classroom.

I read a biography about him. He seemed more interested in poker games than academic pursuits

I think if you just do your best, that is enough for me. College is tough, ND especially.

He was non degree seeking, but enrolled in post grad classes.. this should be the minimum standard

That’s it. I’m trying out. I’ve got a year of eligibility left.

Because in modern college football, the word "college" is vestigial

Why should the NCAA indulge in the pretenses and charades any longer? These guys are pros.

That's why I'm uninterested in any more moral preening via admonishments here about not ripping on "the lads." They're paid to do a job. It's no different than NFL guys. This is what the morons wanted with the "injustice" of college players being handed "only" free rides to top universities. Enjoy, suckers!
