I understand that kicking 1st let's you know if you need a fg or td; isn't it a bigger advantage to take the ball 1st. You are guaranteed to be even or +1 in possessions.

If the team first up on offense scores, it makes every possession a 4 down one which is an advantage to the offense.

The last pick was on DJ for cutting his route off. Apparently, according to former Bears and insiders, he's done it a few times this season. I'm just the messenger and not the expert.

If he looked for the ball and flattens out the route to the open area that pass hits him in stride.
