I have been a loyal fan of Notre Dame since 1969
I watch every play of every game unless work interferes. My fandom cannot be questioned.
What I am is ALSO a fan of college football in general. Had Notre Dame played IU I would have happily rooted for ND (as I did last year) and my late dad could wait another year.
But anyone who doesn't see what an incredible story this is is too cynical for my tastes. And also you ASSumed incorrectly about me. We can enjoy college football and be happy for another team's success if our team isn't involved. It's okay. Really.

My wife’s entire family and our son are Florida Gator alumni and my daughter went to University of Georgia. But god forbid I express interest or respect for them on this board. Hence the comment/sarcasm. Some of the best football every fall weekend is played here in the South. Once again God forbid I express an interest in it.
My son is a junior at IU. Can’t believe how that program turned around. Incredible!!
