It sounds like Lou Holtz is nearing the end of his journey.

He may be entering hospice care shortly.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
Invincibility with no vulnerability

My only three "interactions" with him

- My mom was a waitress at the Plymouth Holiday Inn where the team stayed on Friday nights. He was doing a bed check and walking around to each room, saw me and we waved at each other.

- Shared a flight with him from Indy to South Bend. In the boarding area an older guy with gray hair came up to him and explained he was a CURRENT student at Notre Dame. Lou praised him and couldn't have been nicer.

- Asked him a question on his SiriusXM golf show.

A class act is an understatement.

For many of us, when someone like this dies, it's an end of an era for him and for us.

Clobbered Rutgers like 66-0, got his 100th win, and then had a stand brought at game’s end in the end zone, to address the students. Classy salute to a student body that always has Lou’s back.

We will not see his like again.

I was at the game also.

Hope he's in good hands.

That was just self-deprecation. The guy was very intelligent, and quite quick witted.

The first time at a speaking engagement he headlined and once at Notre Dame. Tom McMahon, DB coach under Holtz in Lou’s last year, invited me to come in the coach’s office if I was in the area. I took him up on the offer and I got to see Lou. I actually got a picture with me sitting behind his desk. Great man, kind, very intelligent, and he meant what he said. Prayers
