Kind of like Ash. Give him a couple of big games to work things out.

Is this a good hire, bad hire, or safe hire? What's everyone's opinion?

It's a solid hire. He's had a lot of success coaching DBs. His DC record not as great.

He apparently will be co defensive coordinator, but that is probably in title only, as his salary had to be justified. He was being paid well as a DC while at Illinois and ND had to offer at least a similar salary.

He has coached several NFL picks while coaching DBs. He can coach. Others will have to vouch for his recruiting.

I assume he coached Witherspoon.

He was awesome in college.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame
Invincibility with no vulnerability

He coached him his Jr & Sr breakout seasons where he was all-big and then concensus all america

He's a very good coach but a terrible play caller...Illinois gave up close to 250ypg past 2 years

He wasn't a great DC. But that's not what he's being hired for. He's been a good DB coach
