Are we going to be able to run the ball (In games 1 & 2)?

It's fathers day so I get to spend a few uninterrupted minutes checking up on my Irish this morning.

A couple things: #1) I think everyone here will agree that Love and Price were a one in a generation (maybe more) backfield combination. They always seemed to find a way. Now they're both gone and it sounds lie we're going back to a running back/ backfield by committee. I'm certainly 'not-in-the-know' about the strength of our backfield (other than Carr) so I am apprehensive about ND's ability to run the ball - especially in the first 2 games. Is the fact that I keep hearing about how great Carr will be (passing) an effort to hide the fact we can't run? Thoughts?

#2) The comment on a different post about a 'legacy joining the class tomorrow' and then someone mentioned Kent Dorfman (Animal House) caused me to spray out the coffee I had just taken a sip of - onto my keyboard! I don't know why it struck me as so funny but I'm still chuckling about it.

ND doesn't have to run in game 1 & 2.

Carr will throw for 1000 yards and 9 TD's in those two.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Aneyas Williams is the RB1. He's the complete package, that he can run for speed, run for power, run with elusiveness, and equally as important, he'll be better than either Love or Price in the passing game.

That, plus he's also the strongest guy on the team, when you look at pound for pound comparisons.

On any other team, he would have been the starter last year as a true sophomore. He was actually looking pretty polished as a true freshman in 2024.

Like you pointed out, he had two 1st round draft picks ahead of him.

The offensive line returns a veteran crew, with plenty of experience, and I believe that Anthonie Knapp is really going to shine this year at his natural position of guard. I simply wish Charles Jagusah wouldn't have been bitten by the injury bogeyman...

Your concerns should be focused on Denbrock, not the talent.

Vs Miami the greatest duo in Irish history combined for 16 carries. And we didn't even unleash Carr, forcing him into throwing WR screens. It was complete and utter incompetence by the OC.

And then you get complete and utter incompetence by the DC versus Texas A&M.

Let's hope they both figured it out cuz it's the same OC and DC.

But we have the talent. I have no doubt about that.

I'd like to think we are reloading at RB. Staff has to want to run, though, and not get cutesy.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.
