I believe the new rule is that player now has a max five years to play after their 18th birthday or after they graduate high school one of the two so does that mean no collegiate athletes made no longer be older than 23 years of age
Thus, no collegiate player can be older than 24 years of age, unless he qualifies for one of the two exceptions:
1) Military service
or
2) Religious mission
There is a third category, but no men's football player will qualify for maternity leave.
No more medical redshirts, no more greyshirts, etc.
Once the clock starts, you have five years to finish your collegiate athletic career, unless you have one of the above exceptions.
year...
I don't know about the 5th year players, since some were probably ordinary 18 or 19 year old kids coming in, while others may have been 20 when they started their careers.
I'm pretty sure some of them would have been ineligible under the 5 for 5 rule.
One of their starters, Hosea Wheeler, was a 5th year senior, but for the life of me, there's no mention of what his age was during that 2025 season. Either way, he's now a 6th year senior at Baylor...
6th year players:
S Louis Moore (starter)
NB Devan Boykin (starter)
TE Riley Nowakowski (starter)
OT Kahlil Benson (starter)
RB Kaelon Black (starter)
WR E.J. Williams (WR 4, decent contributor)
CB Jamier Johnson (DNP)
